June 13, 2020

Hello everyone,

We are happy to announce that we have been given approval to open up the Masses to more people!  We ask that you still continue to call the office to sign up, as we are required to keep lists of contact information for anyone attending Mass.

The Archdiocese has advised that the "lists are intended for internal use by the parish and must be maintained.  In the event of an exposure or confirmed COVID-19 infection, parish staff will contact persons who may have been exposed.  A parish may be asked by public health officials for the contact information for the purposes of contact tracing.  Therefore, anyone not comfortable with public officials potentially being given their name and contact information should refrain at this time from signing up and attending Mass.  The Sunday obligation remains lifted."  The lists will be destroyed after 60 days.

Fr. Edgar has been happy to offer the Facebook livestream Masses during these times of limited Masses, however, now that we will be able to accommodate more people, the livestreams will discontinute after June 21st.

The Mass schedule is as follows:

Saturday - 5:00 p.m. English & 7:00 p.m. Spanish (St. Helen)

Sunday - 8:30 a.m. English (St. Rose)

Sunday - 10:30 a.m. English & 12:30 p.m. Spanish (St. Helen)

Daily Mass:

Tuesday through Friday 12:00 p.m. English (St. Helen)

Tuesday 7:00 p.m. Spanish (St. Helen) followed by Eucharistic Adoration

Wednesday 5:30 p.m. English (St. Rose)

Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eucharistic Adoration (St. Helen)

We hope to see you at Mass soon, but please know that we understand some of you may not be ready to return.  We also remind you that if you are sick or have any symptoms, please stay home until you are well.  Archbishop Alexander Sample has extended the dispensation for Sunday Mass indefinitely.  Fr. Edgar will continue to pray for all of you, and please call the office if you have any special intentions.  The office has reopened also, with hours of 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.  Please share this information with anyone who may not have access to email or Facebook.

Thank you,

Fr. Edgar Rivera and staff

Dearly beloved parishioner:

Greetings from our communities of St. Helen and St. Rose of Lima. I am happy to share the latest news from our Archbishop Alexander Sample and from Governor Kate Brown's new policies that we must follow in our communities. Starting this Tuesday May 12 with the reopening of our churches with a limit of 25 people including the priest and some ministries that are required during each celebration.

Our work dynamic will be through calls during our office hours: Tuesday-Friday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. We ask that you be patient in situations that may arise and the rules that we are being asked to make in the moment of our celebrations. If at the moment we cannot answer your calls, please leave a message and your phone number and we will call you back to confirm your attendance.

If you want to come without having received a previous call, there is a risk that you will not be allowed access to the temple, this is for security reasons, taking care of your health and the health of others and respect for people who are already on our list.

If you are sick or have symptoms and are not feeling well, we ask that you stay home and follow us on our Facebook page (St. Helen & St. Rose Catholic Churches). According to the Archdiocese, the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of obligation will continue to be dispensed.

Our celebrations will be:

Tuesday - Friday (St. Helen)

English Mass 12:00 P.M

Spanish Mass & Adoration 7:00 P.M every Tuesday

Every Friday: exposition and worship of the Holy sacrament 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Wednesday (St. Rose)

Adoration 4:30 P.M

English Mass 5:30 P.M

Saturday

Confessions: 4:00 P.M

English Mass: 5:00 P.M (St. Helen)

Spanish Mass 7:00 P.M (St. Helen)

Sunday

English Mass 8:30 AM (St. Rose in Monroe, OR)

English Mass 10:30 AM (St. Helen)

Spanish Mass 12:30 P.M (St. Helen)

We ask that you call the parish office. The number you should contact is (541) 998-8053 (St. Helen’s office) and specify the day and time that you wish to attend. St. Rose (541) 424-3199 with Arlene Logan please leave a message and she will call you later.

The church will be open half an hour before our celebrations; if you arrive and the door is not open, wait in your car and keep a distance from other people.

At the entrance of our church we will have disinfectants or if you wish you can go directly to the bathroom to wash your hands.

The seats will be previously marked where you are going to sit.

Singing books and readings will not be available at this time.

We ask that you bring your protective masks for better safety.

If you bring a donation or want to leave a donation during the week we have two options: the first is during the celebration we will have a basket in the back and at the end of the Holy Mass you can leave it there or if you like during the week you can leave your contribution in the St. Helen office dropbox, specifying the church you want to contribute (St. Helen or St. Rose).

During the celebration only the body of Christ will be given and the priest will go where you are seated to give you communion without the need to move from there.

We will not have holy water at the entrance to the church.

Today, more than ever, we remind you that within the church you should not socialize respecting each person who comes and does not want to speak. Once our celebration is over, we ask you to leave so that we can disinfect the places for our next celebrations.

We will continue to call families to offer Holy Mass for their needs.

Before these restrictions that we are given, we ask that you be patient with all of us and with our staff that is giving directions. Also, thank God that we already have a light and a way of hope for all of us to come together again to celebrate the most sacred thing we have in our Catholic faith which is Holy Mass.

Thank you for your prayers, your donations, your patience and your love for your parish. I am very happy to be part of these beautiful communities of faith and together continue the mission of the Risen Jesus entrusted to the apostles: "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit" Mt 28: 19-20

Fr. Edgar Rivera

Parish Administrator

St. Helen & St. Rose of Lima

Catholic Church in Junction City, OR

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus,

I ask the God of life, that you enjoy physical and spiritual health. With great hope I write this letter and with the first intention of letting you know that you are always in my prayers and in the same way, I am offering Holy Mass for all of you.

Last Friday, many of us witnessed the power of God in our lives when Pope Francis gave the Urbe et Orbi blessing to Rome and to the world, that includes all of us. He invited us not to be afraid, but to be persevering in our prayer life and above all to row together as a single community of faith. Likewise, I invite you, brothers and sisters, not to be afraid and to continue working from home with our families and friends. This is also a time to take advantage of social media and electronic media, especially in bringing a message of peace and hope to all those who are going through very difficult times. The great message of Pope Francis, very special and concrete in our lives, motivated me to seek new ways of evangelization with all of you. For this reason, we are going to broadcast our celebrations on Facebook on the most important days of the week and know that you are not alone. I also want to let you know that Jackie will plan to be in the office during the weekdays, in the morning, answering calls and doing office work, but with the door closed and avoiding receiving people. I ask you, for the good of all, to be responsible and respectful of that decision. If anyone brings a document or donation to the parish, they can place it in the mailbox that is on the left side of the office door. Thus, the office will be closed and for the moment the only service we will offer will be by phone from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will be every Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., avoiding the presence of more than 10 people. The schedules of our celebrations, via Facebook (St. Helen and St. Rose Catholic Churches), will be:

     Palm Sunday:

                       English 9:30 A.M.

                       Spanish 11:00 A.M.

(We will put out palms half an hour after each celebration, on a table outside the parking lot and you can take only the ones you need and avoid touching the others)

Holy Thursday:   Bilingual Mass 7:00 P.M.

           Holy Friday:

Stations of the Cross 3:00 P.M. (St. Rose)

Passion Reading (English) 4:30 P.M. (St. Rose)

Passion Reading (Spanish) 6: 30 P.M. (St. Helen)

                            Rosary (Spanish) 7:30 P.M.

Vigil on Saturday, we will join the Archbishop through the Facebook Live platform at 8:30 P.M (https://archdpdx.org)

Easter Sunday and the following Sundays:

                            English 9:30 A.M.

                            Spanish 11:00 A.M.

Every Tuesday, we will continue with the COEHMS in Junction City (7:30 P.M.) with the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.

We hope that you can join us in our celebrations and walk together in prayer. If someone wants to send an intention, they can do it to my personal email (erivera@archdpdx.org)

Finally, I invite you to become aware of the parish needs that we are facing at this time. Since we will not have a community service, we need your Sunday contribution to carry out the expenses that we are facing day by day. Also, the office will be closed but you can send your donation to the parish postal mail or use the drop box to the left to leave any items. Finally, I inform you that these provisions are temporary. Be aware of our parish page, strosesthelen.org, for other notices as well as the reopening of our normal activities. My Prayer for all of you and the blessing of the Lord Jesus to all of you

Communion Espiritual

espiritualmente a mi corazón.
Y como si ya os hubiese recibido,

os abrazo y me uno del todo a Ti.

Señor, no permitas que jamás me aparte de Ti.

Amén

En Cristo,

Rev. Edgar Rivera

Dear St. Helen & St. Rose Parishioners,

I am writing to you with great sadness, but with great hope for all the events that are happening in our Archdiocese and in the world. At this time when we cannot visit the temples to celebrate the Holy Eucharist, I invite you to make a prayer room in your homes. Let us pray with our family the holy rosary, read the bible, continue with our Lenten practice and continue with the holy rosary to be united in our faith and our relationship with our God. Let us pray our prayer of spiritual communion every day.
We have to stay very strong in prayer, help those most in need, stay as healthy as possible and avoid being in contact with the most vulnerable or defenseless. I invite you to be attentive to any communication that the authorities may give and obey the instructions they are giving us so that this passes as soon as possible.
I want to invite all of our parishioners and people around us to take a moment of their time and come to our St. Helen parish which will be open Tuesday through Friday, and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, I invite you to take a moment of your day and come to pray and strengthen your faith. The exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will be exhibited every Friday at St. Helen Church from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.(the exposition will be in the church) with a 10 person limit and observing all social distancing norms. Take a moment of your time and let's start asking Our God to help us in these moments of fear, uncertainty, and chaos and we can face any situation or illness as close as possible to God. If anyone feels the need to confess please call the parish office to make a personal appointment with your server or regularly, we have confessions every Saturday at 4:00 P.M, no more than 10 people at any one time. In the same way, the office will be open Tuesday through Friday from 8:00 to 12:00. Funeral masses can be celebrated. It is recommended that only very close family attend within the limit of 10, in any case the limit of 25 must not be exceeded. Weddings can be celebrated within the recommended limit of 10 people, in any case the limit of 25 must not be exceeded. I will celebrate Holy week with the RCIA candidates, godparents, lectors, etc.… no more than the 25 person limit. Communion services are not allowed as they attract crowds just as a public Mass would. Holy communion visits to the homebound should be suspended due to the health risks to some of our most vulnerable parishioners. Anointing of the sick and viaticum, I will respond generously to those who are seriously ill and request it.  Also, I provide you with two links to listen to

Holy Mass online every day including Sundays:

1. Sunday Mass at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception 11:00 AM Live from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception via Facebook Live with our Archbishop Alexander Sample. (https://archdpdx.org/live-masses)

2. National Broadcasts:
Mater Dei Radio: 12:00 PM Sunday and Daily,
    EWTN (WWW.EWTN.COM)
     EWTN (In Spanish)
Finally, I invite you to become aware of the parish needs that we are facing at this time. Since we will not have a community service, we need your Sunday contribution to carry out the expenses that we are facing day to day. The office will be open in the morning or you can send your donation to the parish address: 1350 W 6th. Ave., Junction City, OR. 97448
I will also be celebrating Holy Mass privately for all of you and for the needs of the world. If one of you want to attend one of these masses and especially Sunday masses, please call the office, but limited to 10 persons. If someone wants to offer Holy Mass for any need, you can send your intentions to my email (erivera@archdpdx.org). I will be offering them for all your needs. Also, I invite you to visit the Archdiocese page or the page of St. Helen & St. Rose (https://www.strosesthelen.org) for more information on what's going on in our archdiocese of Portland.

Dear Brothers and Sisters, during these difficult times, we will unite in prayer and we will pray for those most vulnerable to this virus. We will pray for all those families who have lost a loved one and for all those who are working hard to find a cure for this disease. God bless you

Spiritual Communion:
My Jesus,
I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.

Amen

in Christ,

Rev. Edgar Rivera
